About Little Crickets
Little Crickets was created to give young children the chance to experience cricket in a fun and welcoming way. Traditionally, children often only try cricket if family members already play. We wanted to change that — by introducing the sport earlier, in a way that’s playful, inclusive, and pressure-free.
We deliver age-appropriate cricket classes for children aged 18 months to 8 years, helping them build confidence, coordination, and social skills while having lots of fun.

Coach Matt

Matt runs and owns Little Crickets as well as being a seasoned Cricket coach, Matt is known
for his high-energy sessions and thoughtful approach to early years sport.

Craig has over 10 years of Cricket coaching experience
As well as being Dad to a Little
Cricketer he is a natural with Toddlers, putting endless smiles on faces making kids want to
come back to Little Crickets each week!
Coach Ru

With a background in professional Cricket from Sri Lanka and many years playing in the UK
Ru brings a wealth of Cricket experience and knowledge whilst also being a father helps
transition that knowledge to the youngest generation!

Coach Dan
Cambridge North
Dan played cricket at school and Oxford University before a successful career as a sound engineer for artists including U2, Madonna and Celine Dion.
He now works in content creation for the University of Cambridge. Returning to cricket when his sons took up the game, Dan is an ECB Core Coach (Level 2), currently studying for a Level 3 Diploma at the Root Academy, and was ECB Coach of the Year (Cambridgeshire) in 2023 and a finalist in 2025. He is Director of Coaching and Safeguarding Officer at Histon Cricket Club, an ECB qualified umpire, and a member of both the ECB Coaches Association and ECB Association of Cricket Officials. His wife is one of very few female ECB qualified umpires in the county.
Coach Chris
Oundle
Coach Chris runs energetic, fast-paced sessions with a big emphasis on fair play and team spirit.
“Hello I’m Chris I’m the coach at Oundle. I attended Matt’s Little Cricket classes with my
son and enjoyed them so much that we decided to set up classes in my local area. My
favourite game is Kwik Cricket as everyone can have a go at everything and it’s a chance to
work as a team. Outside of Little Crickets, I am involved with my village’s team and am
passionate about Test Cricket.”
Coaching Opportunities
Little Crickets is growing across Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire — and we’re always on the lookout for enthusiastic people to join the team or open classes in new areas.
You don’t need to be a professional cricketer. What matters is energy, patience, and a genuine love of working with young children. We provide full training and ongoing support, and our coaches come from all sorts of backgrounds — from club cricketers to early years practitioners to parents who simply fell in love with what we do.
